Let’s face it – your car is more than just a way to get from here to there. Often, it also acts as a mobile office, restaurant, and place for “family bonding.” Between dropping the kids off at school, running to the grocery store, filling up at the gas station, going to the bank and tackling the rest of the never-ending errand list, things can get disorganized, fast.
Here are some tips to help you declutter your car and stay organized for the commutes ahead:
Keep a trash bag in your car - This is step number one! Having a designated place to put your gum wrappers and grocery receipts will help you cut back on clutter. Aim to empty your trash bag at least once a week.
Don’t forget to recycle - Keep a second bag for bottles and cans and return them for the refund.
Receipt envelope - If you use your car for business travel, or know you’ll want to consult a receipt later, keep an envelope in your car designated for this purpose.
Organize your glove box - Keep all your important documents together in the glove box, using either a folder or a plastic envelope. This includes your vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
Errand bag - Keep a tote bag inside your house and fill it with the things you’ll want when you’re running around doing errands. This includes library books, packages you’re bringing to the post office, etc.
DIY plastic bag holder - Repurpose a tissue box into a holder for plastic bags. You’ll never know when you need one for shopping or cleaning up messes.
Get a handle on your loose change - Use an old gum or mint container to keep all your loose change together and stash it in your cup holder. Perfect for when you run into tolls or are in desperate need of a car wash.
Road safety kit - Nothing screams prepared and organized like a roadside safety kit in your car. Not sure what to include in your kit? Click here. We hope you’ll never need it!
Use these tips to stay organized and make the time spent in your car more enjoyable. Happy travels!
