At NYCM Insurance, we live by our North Star values by expressing and demonstrating genuine care for people’s well-being so that others have hope for a better tomorrow and the courage to persevere. This includes being active, supportive members of our community.
Members of Team NYCM from our Orchard Park branch office formed
a committee called “North Star Neighbors,” to embody our North Star statement
and help those in need.
The North Star Neighbors support Operation Good Neighbor, a local
charity that provides essential items to people throughout the Western New York
Community. Operation Good Neighbor collects food, clothing, bedding, and other
necessities for distribution to those who need them. The organization also
accepts returnable cans and bottles, using the proceeds to purchase additional
supplies for the community.
“The North Star Neighbors meet monthly to discuss ways in
which we can support Operation Good Neighbor,” said Cynthia Kaczmarek, Employee
Relations Coordinator. “We all really enjoy being involved in our community and
have lots of creative ideas for fundraisers!”
In the office, the North Star Neighbors organize ongoing
fundraisers, including a snack box whose proceeds benefit Operation Good
Neighbor. The committee also hosts special events that give members of Team
NYCM fun and creative ways to support the organization.
During NYCM Insurance’s Summer BBQ Bash with Orchard Park
employees, the North Star Neighbors held a basket raffle featuring baskets
donated by teams throughout the office. Employees supported the fundraiser by
donating baskets, purchasing tickets, and volunteering during the event. Together,
these efforts helped the committee raise $768 for Operation Good Neighbor. With
NYCM’s end-of-year match, the event’s total contribution reached $1,536.
The committee also hosted a “Taco in a Bag” event, bringing employees together for another fun and successful fundraiser. The event raised $271. After NYCM’s end-of-year match, the total contribution reached $542. Together, employees raised $1,039 through the two events. With NYCM’s matching contributions, the total reached $2,078.
The North Star Neighbors continue to embrace our core values
while making a positive difference for individuals and families in the Orchard
Park community—and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
