Planning for the Future: Breaking Ground on a 35,500-Square-Foot Addition

At NYCM Insurance we’re proud to call Otsego County home. It’s where we first set up shop in 1899 and where our headquarters still resides, acting as a home base for 600 of our 800+ employees.

In 2019, we’re excited to break ground on our 35,500 square foot addition in Edmeston, NY. The new building will offer up additional conference rooms, work stations and offices, as well as a 600-seat auditorium for events and town hall meetings.

Floor plan and aesthetic

Our newest addition will mimic the design and style of Edmeston’s main office building – think red brick and white trim! The floor plan has the auditorium residing on the first floor alongside a string of conference rooms, making up 17,500 square feet. Above, on the second floor, an additional 18,000 square feet will serve as office space.

Why is NYCM Insurance expanding?

A lot went into our decision to add on, but perhaps the most influential factor was our employees speaking out on what they needed from their work environment.

We heard a need from our employees for spaces that allow them to be creative and work together across divisions,” said President and CEO V. Daniel Robinson II. “We’re growing - the additional space will allow us to continue to build out our team and work in an environment optimized for collaboration.”

NYCM Insurance’s last addition took place in 2004 and included a new front entrance as well as the building’s front wings which now station a slough of departments including Application Development, Product Management, Human Resources and Internal Audit & Compliance.

The project’s construction is being handled by Murnane Building Contractors, Inc., with all architectural work being undertaken by James Jordan Associates, Architects.

The finish line

The addition is projected to be completed between April-May 2021. We’re looking forward to cutting the ribbon on our new workspace and are excited to see what the future holds!
