Veterans Day Recap: How NYCM Insurance Celebrates and Honors Veterans

Historically, what was once known as “Armistice Day” --a day honoring only those who fought in World War I--was transitioned into a day of celebrating all U.S. Veterans that fought and continue to fight for our country. Honoring the brave and courageous, and those that sacrificed their lives is how we as Americans celebrate Veterans Day.

Here at NYCM Insurance, we take the extra time to personally recognize the sacrifices and dedication of our Veterans and honor those individuals within each of our offices. Leading up to this federal holiday, we held several fundraisers within our offices this year including selling patriotic tote bags and Under Armour hats, and hosting an NYCM Tailgate Grill Raffle. Together, we raised a total of $1200 which is being donated directly to Sitrin Health Care Center. Sitrin is a non-profit organization located in New Hartford, NY with a reputation and strong passion for innovative healthcare solutions with an emphasis on rehabilitation programs and care services for Veterans.

U.S. Air Force Veteran who served 22 years, David Green, also recently celebrated his 22nd work anniversary at NYCM. “It means a lot that the employees and leadership at NYCM Insurance recognize those veterans who have served, those who are currently serving, and most importantly, those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation.”

In the past and in conjunction with our friends at Sitrin Health Care Center, we have held many ceremonies at our office locations recognizing our Veterans and inviting our employees to observe and honor those in their families who served.

This year, we decided to do something a little different to recognize our Veterans. Each individual received personalized cards along with Visa gift cards from our President and CEO V. Daniel Robinson II, Executive Vice President and COO, Cheryl Robinson, and Treasurer, CFO and CRO, Michael Perrino, personally thanking each Veteran for their service.

Because we know that our employees have family, friends, and other loved ones who have served and continue to serve, we wanted to provide an opportunity to recognize and honor them as well. We asked our employees to share photos of all those in their lives who are military personnel currently deployed, serving active duty or in the reserves, deceased, or are retired from the service. A total of 108 photos were received from employees across our four office locations and used to create an American flag mural which was presented the week of Veterans Day.

U.S. Army Veteran, Cindy Camp who served four years shared, "Honor is defined in part as: 'regard with great respect.' For decades, this is what NYCM Insurance has done for Veterans with ceremonies, gifts, banners with photos of current veterans and those who came before us. Thank you for honoring us.”
