For most of us, 2020 hasn’t looked the way we
thought it might. During the tail end of the first quarter, our world was faced with a
situation that found most of us in upheaval, and shortly afterwards, adjusting
to a new normal. With perseverance and strength, many of us have continued to
do our part to keep everyone safe and have done our best to continue routines
as much as possible -- this has also been the case for Team NYCM.
Much of our second quarter has been spent
adjusting to a new normal and finding ways to look out for the health and
safety of everyone in our ecosystem: from employees, to customers, to our
independent agents, to our communities at large.
Read on to learn more about how we’ve been
coming together as a team and continuing to service our customers from home:
Giving Back to Our Customers
As we continued to watch stay-at-home recommendations
intensify, we realized that most people - including our customers - were
driving less. We recognized that this was an opportunity to alleviate some financial stress for our customers during a
time that was filled with so many uncertainties. To do our part in assisting
our auto customers
during a difficult time, we enacted a fifteen percent premium giveback for our
230,000 auto policyholders.

A Change in Mood
Since our inception, New York State has been our home. Living and working in one of the hardest hit states, we
wanted to reach out to all of our fellow New Yorkers and remind them that
though things look different, we are and always will be there for them. We
produced a new spot from home to share the message across digital channels.
Check it out here.
At-Home Inspiration
With everyone spending much more time at home,
we’ve been sharing tips to help everyone in our ecosystem stay busy! From entertaining children, to finding creative
ways to spend time outside, check out our round up of
inspirational articles for staying active and engaged while staying home or
practicing social distancing, here.
Caring for One Another
To prioritize safety, the vast majority of our
employees have been working from the comfort
of their home since early March. Working remotely allows our team to practice
social distancing while also caring for family members who may have found themselves
sent home from school or out of a job. We are constantly
monitoring state-wide updates and will be adjusting our move back to our
offices accordingly.
To lessen our employees' time spent in public
spaces, we have also transitioned our on-site café in Edmeston, NY to a
drive-through pop-up supermarket. Employees from our Edmeston and
Sherburne offices are encouraged to shop the supermarket twice a week for
much-needed supplies for themselves and their families.
Serving Our Communities
Community has always been at the heart of
everything we do. We have grown from humble roots and have never lost sight of
that. To support our local communities, we have made donations to food
banks and medical centers across New York State.
Additionally, to help our employees make a
difference in their local communities, we provided all of our team members with
a check to make a positive difference; whether that be keeping it for
themselves to support their families, making a donation to a local hospital or charity, or passing it along to
friends and neighbors who have found themselves on tough times.
Many of our employees have also been volunteering their time, sewing and donating
masks, and assisting in food bank operations.

local community while still practicing social distancing, click here.
Remembering Our Fallen Heroes
Even though our campuses were quiet, our
facilities staff ensured that our many American flags were proudly displayed
for Memorial Day. We were also proud to see the flag flying high from the steel
structure of our new addition in Edmeston, NY.
